Areas of Practice

Becky is an assistant in the London Office of the Construction and Engineering practice group, focusing primarily on dispute resolution.

Representative Experience
  • Assisting in House of Lords appeal case, Melville Dundas v George Wimpey & Norwich Union, which concerned the relationship between the Housing Grants Construction & Regeneration Act 1996 and a JCT standard form contract. Acted on behalf of the insurer, Norwich Union.
  • Acting for home owners and an insurer in a professional negligence action against a main contractor and structural engineer. The dispute concerned the negligent design and construction of roofing at a housing development damaged during a storm.
  • Acting for contractors and sub-contractors in various adjudications involving issues such as the measurement of interim applications for payment and the method of measurement of a bill of quantities.
  • Acting for local authority in mediation with a contractor regarding the repair of maintenance of housing stock.
  • Acting for a main contractor in dispute with sub-contractor over payment issues and roofing defects which had arisen at a care home being constructed.
  • Acting for a main contractor in dispute with the NHBC over repairs and snagging required at a residential estate.

Professional Background

Becky joined K&L Gates in 2008. She was previously at a leading Scottish Law Firm where she qualified as a lawyer in 2006.

Becky has gained valuable experience in a wide array of Scottish Court Cases, in both the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session. She has also been involved with various forms of alternative dispute resolution matters, such as arbitration, adjudication and mediation.
