Ms. Bevan is a labour, employment and safety lawyer. She assists private and public clients across various industries including the construction, labour hire, mining, transport, financial services, health and energy industries.

Her experience advising on labour and employment law includes advising on all aspects of the employment relationship, collective bargaining and industrial disputes and assisting with employment based litigation in state and federal courts and tribunals.

Ms. Bevan also assists clients with workplace safety issues including work health and safety training and compliance, workplace incidents and prosecutions.

Professional/Civic Activities

  • Pro bono support to the St John's Legal Centre
  • Ms. Bevan was seconded to Ausgrid for eight months as an Industrial Relations Advisor. She advised on a number of major projects that resulted in major changes for the organisation, including: 
    • an organisation-wide restructure 
    • the implementation of a new Motor Vehicle Policy 
    • the termination of Local Flexibility Workplace Agreements 
    • a proposal to introduce new shift arrangements 
    • assisting with union and employee disputes such as matters relating to workplace investigations, unfair dismissals, interpretation and application of the enterprise agreement, consultation requirements, outsourcing, fixed term employees and leave provisions. 
  • Assisting with the drafting and negotiation of collective enterprise agreements in the energy and health industry. 
  • Advising on and defending discrimination complaints in state and federal tribunals and courts. 
  • Advising on and defending unfair dismissal proceedings at the Fair Work Commission. 
  • Providing advice with respect to defending unlawful termination and breach of contract claims. 
  • Drafting commercial and other employment related documentation including contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, release agreements, confidentiality and restraint of trade documents. 
  • Advising on the application of industrial awards and enterprise agreements. 
  • Advising on the termination of employment in various contexts. 
  • Assisting with workplace investigations relating to discrimination, harassment and bullying allegations. 
  • Providing advice with respect to restraints of trade including commencing proceedings in respect of injunctions and common law damages. 
  • Advising corporations of their obligations under work health and safety laws. 
  • Advising corporations with respect to investigations conducted by state safety regulators into work health and safety incidents. 
  • Defending corporations with respect to prosecutions brought by the state safety regulator for breach of work health and safety laws. 
  • Drafting and negotiating enterprise agreements and assisting with the lodgment of industrial instruments to state and federal tribunals.
