Spanning the Globe With Anti-Corruption and Anti-Bribery Government Actions - How Can Global Companies Meet the Challenges of Different Enforcement Approaches?

October 2013

Watch Recording.

Companies with operations or doing business in multiple countries face different and competing approaches by U.S. and foreign governments when it comes to anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws and their enforcement. Although the principles behind the laws are not that different, business, political, and cultural considerations impact how each country enforces their laws and treats violators.

Panelists include former U.S. Attorney General and Governor of Pennsylvania Dick Thornburgh and lawyers from K&L Gates’ offices across five continents who:

  • Explain recent developments in the U.S., the U.K., the Asia Pacific region, Russia, Latin America, and Africa in government enforcement actions combatting anti-corruption and anti-bribery. Presentations cover developments in all of these regions, including the FCPA, U.K. Bribery Act, and the Australian Criminal Code.
  • Share how in-house legal and compliance officers can best adapt their compliance programs to meet legal requirements in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Analyze how recent developments impact companies that are operating in these jurisdictions.
  • Indicate what global companies involved in cross-border enforcement investigations can do to protect their companies’ interests.
