The use of UAS, also known as drones, is a fast-growing, evolving, and dynamic opportunity for a wide variety of business sectors. Technological innovation in this field is outpacing the development of the regulatory environment. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is approaching the integration of commercial UAS applications with incremental regulatory and policy phases. Major legislation reauthorizing the FAA and currently pending in Congress would also make significant changes to the laws governing UAS and in response to issues regarding the widespread integration of UAS into the national airspace. It is projected that the use of this technology will be utilized across a number of diverse industries. The developments and applications of UAS will revolutionize a number of industry landscapes in the U.S. and around the world.
Our speakers provide insight to the evolving FAA regulations and offer an overview of insurance and security challenges that currently face the UAS industry.
