Texas is a very favorable forum for corporate policyholders. It has a statutory scheme that provides requirements for carriers with respect to accepting and denying coverage as well as the settlement of claims, strict deadlines with which carriers must comply, and severe penalties for violations. Texas’ favorable attitude toward corporate policyholders can also be seen in the pro-policyholder stance it takes with respect to several common coverage issues.
