Mr. Sovesky’s practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law relating to procurement, licensing, clearance, enforcement, management, and counseling. Mr. Sovesky is experienced with representation of companies of varying sizes, including fortune 200 companies and fledgling startups. Examples of Mr. Sovesky’s experience include procurement and management of patent portfolios, technology roadmap counseling, white space guidance, innovation evaluation, and freedom-to-operate analyses.

Mr. Sovesky’s technical concentration is in the chemical, biotech, materials science, and mechanical areas. Examples of his technical concentration include, polymers, polymerization processes such as Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (ATRP), foams, coatings, polyurethanes, enzymology, expression vectors, hydrocarbon processing, catalysis, fluidic devices, and photovoltaic cells.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sovesky has consulted for the oil and gas industry and has worked for a hydrocarbon processing company in the development of catalysis based reactors. Additionally, Mr. Sovesky has worked for a large corporation as a chemical engineer and as an intellectual property coordinator. Mr. Sovesky’s role included designing innovative enzyme based products, evaluating contracts, generating government funded contract required disclosures, evaluating innovations, procuring patents, and managing the intellectual property portfolio. Additionally, Mr. Sovesky has worked for a boutique intellectual property law firm in the D.C. metro area.
