Mr. Howard, a trial lawyer with over twenty years of trial experience in the state and federal courts, is a partner in the firm’s Litigation and Private Clients, Trusts and Estates groups. In addition, he collaborates frequently with the probate litigation team on a firm-wide basis across the United States. Mr. Howard’s practice regularly includes representation of institutional clients, fiduciaries and individuals in contested probate litigation matters including will contests, lack of testamentary capacity claims, undue influence claims, contested guardianship and conservatorship proceedings, and fiduciary investment and accounting proceedings. Mr. Howard’s experience in contested litigation proceedings gives institutional and individual clients the great advantage of having a trial lawyer whose practice is dedicated to the careful assessment and effective resolution of contested probate and business litigation claims. Mr. Howard has served as a Guardian, Guardian ad Litem and Discovery Master. These cases frequently require investigation of complex legal issues and the trial of claims involving the defense and prosecution of financial and fiduciary misconduct. Mr. Howard also has significant experience in complex divorce litigation, and drafting and litigation regarding prenuptial agreements and cohabitation agreements.

Professional Background

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Howard was a partner of a large New England law firm where he focused his practice on all forms of contested litigation in the Probate Court, Superior Court, Appeals Court and United States District Court.
