Mr. Andersen is a senior corporate lawyer with a focus on commercial, technology and sourcing projects. He has advised on large scale outsourcing projects, technology agreements for both vendors and customers, corporate support, privacy and telecommunications regulatory work. He has acted for government departments, large listed companies, telecommunications companies and technology suppliers.

His experience in the technology area has included technology procurement and outsourcing work (software licensing and maintenance, services agreements, business process and IT outsourcing, government and private sector advice, and C-suite, board level briefings) and telecoms procurement projects (acting for both vendors and purchasers of telecommunications services and infrastructure, drafting and commenting on complex agreements, lengthy and detailed negotiations relating to contracts and technical schedules, assistance with minor disputes arising from projects and telecommunications facilities access arrangements).

Mr. Andersen also provides privacy advice such as privacy policies and controls, data breach advice and off-shore data transfers.

Professional Background

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Andersen spent time at a global law firm based in Sydney  as Special Counsel in the IT / Telecommunications group where he focused on information technology, telecommunications, and privacy  matters. Before then, he worked at an Australian firm in Sydney as a Senior Associate in the IT / Telecommunications group.

Prior to returning to Australia, Mr. Andersen gained experience in the UK, Europe, Middle East and the USA while working as a Senior Associate in the London office of a leading US firm with a technology and outsourcing focus.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Mr. Andersen's experience included:
  • Assisting a number of NSW Government departments in relation to technology procurement projects, including all the technology procurement required to set up Service NSW as a new NSW Government agency.
  • Assisting the Commonwealth Bank of Australia in relation to a number of procurement transactions, including the appointment of new card vendors.
  • Assisting Microsoft with a 50,000 seat cloud transaction, one of the largest cloud transactions in Australia to date.
  • Assisting Vodafone Hutchison Australia with a number of procurement projects, including the renegotiation of outsourcing arrangements with Tech Mahindra and network rollout projects.
  • Assisting Dimension Data with strategic relationship agreements with two of its largest business partners.
