Carly E. Howard

Carly Howard primarily advises on matters involving cryptocurrency (token) law, regulation, and compliance across a range of areas, including banking, international business transactions, and digital privacy. This includes a particular focus on cross-border issues, worldwide regulation, and legal operations for blockchain technology and cryptocurrency, decentralized finance (DeFi), centralized finance (CeFi), and financial technology (FinTech). As of counsel in the firm's Miami office and a member of the Asset Management and Investment Funds practice, she specializes in digital assets for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and investment funds, including technology-focused investors and entities. 

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Carly was the founder and principal of a consulting firm, where she served as an outsourced chief legal officer and operations strategist to scale-ups, investment firms, and family offices. With a focus on cross-border matters, global regulation, and legal operations, she advised cryptocurrency and blockchain technology (tokenized) firms and companies, including asset managers and DeFi, CeFi, and FinTech organizations. Before spending over half a decade in the crypto industry, Carly worked with large law firms as a fiduciary law specialist and financial institutions as a wealth strategist for high-net-worth clients.
