Betsy Johnson is an associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office, where she is a member of the investment management, hedge funds, and alternative investments practice group.
Betsy advises registered investment companies and their independent board members on a broad range of regulatory, transactional, and compliance matters arising under U.S. federal securities laws and state corporation/trust laws. She has experience advising open-end and closed-end funds, including funds with multiple, unaffiliated sub-advisers, exchange-traded funds, insurance product funds, commodities funds using a Cayman subsidiary, and funds with strategies based in derivatives and international and emerging markets.
During law school, Betsy was a law clerk for the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice. She also served as a pro bono student attorney in the Juvenile Justice Clinic and volunteered in the legal department of a shelter for victims of domestic violence. She was a summer associate in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office in 2014.
Prior to law school, Betsy was an educator in Maryland public and private schools.
