Jordan Kwan is an associate in the firm’s Palo Alto and Orange County offices. He focuses on intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent prosecution, strategic patent portfolio counseling, and the agreements relating to the transfer or license of intellectual property. Jordan counsels large, established clients as well as start-ups in all aspects of the patent procurement process, starting from helping to decide what might be a patentable invention, to efficiently applying for and prosecuting a patent application, and finally to helping decide whether and how to continue extending the life of a patented family. Jordan's technical experience centers around software, algorithms, and signal processing.
Prior to joining K&L Gates, Jordan was a patent prosecution associate in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he drafted patent applications and counseled start-up clients and large companies in the patent process.
Prior to attending law school, Jordan worked as a systems engineer in satellite technology. His experience included integrating, testing, and troubleshooting components of a national defense infrared radiation (IR) satellite payload for an aerospace company.
