Kate Camarata

Kate Camarata focuses her practice on technology and intellectual property transactions. She regularly counsels clients on issues related to commercial transactions, open source software, and licensing and naming rights within media and sports industries.

Kate assists clients on a variety of technology and intellectual property-related transactions, including complex technology licensing agreements, software as a service agreements, platform as a service agreements, technology services agreements, and end user licensing agreements.  Kate has experience in both counseling clients on mitigating risk associated with launching products and performing due-diligence work during merges and acquisitions. Kate works with clients ranging from startups to global public companies in a variety of industries, including cloud, software, professional services, digital media, marketing and advertising, music and gaming. 

Kate uses a teamwork approach to her work, ensuring that client stakeholders are kept apprised and business teams are empowered to move their projects forward.

Kate was a summer associate at K&L Gates in 2020, and she reviewed various agreements and analyzed issues relating to copyright law and patent eligibility. 

Prior to joining the firm, Kate served as a judicial extern for the Washington State Supreme Court in Justice Mary Yu's chambers. While there, she summarized case assignments and wrote memos regarding oral arguments throughout the term. Additionally, Kate collaborated with clerks for drafts of various court documents such as motions and en banc memos. 

Kate’s professional work extends to her commitment to pro bono services. As a former classical pianist and music major, Kate values the artistic community and supports the work of artists and artists’ organizations wherever she can. Kate uses her prior entertainment background and knowledge of recording contracts to provide advice and legal services to clients.
