Michelle Weaver is a registered patent attorney in the firm’s Pittsburgh office. She focuses her practice on intellectual property matters. Ms. Weaver’s practice primarily focuses on the preparation and prosecution of patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office along with the prosecution of foreign patent applications. She participates in all aspects of the patent procurement process including obtaining and reviewing invention disclosures, performing patentability searches, drafting applications, preparing filings including responses to office actions, and interviewing Examiners. Ms. Weaver’s practice also involves patent invalidity, clearance, and freedom-to-operate analyses; and drafting substantive filings for post-grant procedures such as Petitions for Inter Partes Review. She also assists with the management of clients’ patent portfolios and deals with additional legal issues, such as patent term adjustment.
Ms. Weaver has dealt with a wide range of technologies, including surgical techniques; medical devices, including surgical staplers, staples, electrosurgical instruments, harmonic scalpels, and robotic surgical instruments; infant consumer products, including bouncer seats, car seats, playpens, and highchairs; electrical connectors; and industrial processing equipment and methods.
