Nelson M. Hua

Nelson Hua is admitted to practice in Texas. He is not currently admitted in Illinois.

Nelson Hua is an intellectual property litigator in the firm’s Chicago office. His practice focuses on intellectual property matters such as patent infringement, trade secrets, and unfair competition. He also routinely handles outsourcing and systems implementation disputes.

Nelson has experience with a wide range of technologies with software, hardware, and network components, including smart bed foundations, smart fitness equipment, judicial case management systems, and Medicaid management information systems. With his economics background, Nelson also has significant experience in litigating damages matters.

As a litigator, Nelson has experience with pleadings, fact and expert discovery, dispositive and non-dispositive motions, invalidity contentions, and temporary injunctive relief.

Nelson earned his J.D., graduating as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, from Columbia University School of Law and his B.A., double majoring in economics and philosophy, from Vanderbilt University. In law school, he competed in and coached other students for a national moot court competition. Prior to joining the firm, Nelson was a summer associate in the firm’s Dallas office in 2014 and 2015.
