Robert Wong has over 35 years of experience in legal practice. His main area of practice is in corporate finance dealing mainly with public listed companies. He has been involved in more than 20 IPOs in his career and has been advising public listed companies in fund raising on the Singapore Exchange Limited (SGX) through rights issue and placements of equities and debt instruments. He has advised on numerous mergers and acquisitions, both private as well as takeovers of shares in public listed companies.
His other work includes corporate restructuring, joint ventures, capital reduction, schemes of arrangement, and drafting of rules relating to employees share option scheme and share buy-back. He also advises publicly listed companies on compliance mainly with the listing manual of the SGX, the Companies Act, the Securities and Futures Act, and the Singapore Code on Takeovers and Mergers. He has also advised stock brokering firms and trading firms on licensing issues in respect of their operations as well as those of their trading representatives and remisiers.
Robert graduated from National University of Singapore in 1983 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1984.
He sits on the board of directors of two publicly listed companies as a non-executive independent director and is a mediator for the Financial Industry Disputes Resolution Centre Ltd (FIDReC).
