Guy Peterson

Guy Peterson has over 19 years' experience in defendant personal injury (including VWA recoveries), commercial litigation and insurance coverage matters in both Victoria and Western Australia.

He has acted for a wide range of government departments and bodies, not for profits and a number of multi-state and national organisations, including casino operators, construction groups and tech companies, both directly and on instructions from insurers.

In particular, he has handled claims involving:

  • Sub-contractors' employees, who are injured on construction sites;
  • Authorised officers, who allegedly assaulted members of the public;
  • Care workers, who are allegedly assaulted by DFFH clients; and
  • Firefighters, who allegedly developed cancers from firefighting.

He also has extensive experience in advising on complex insurance and contractual indemnity issues and claims for contribution and recovery from other insurers.

Guy previously worked as a lawyer at a boutique insurance litigation law firm in Perth for over three years where he advised on a number of insurance and commercial disputes, including an insurance coverage claim that was ultimately heard by the High Court.

Guy then joined K&L Gates in the firm's Perth office for seven years, where he advised on a number of commercial litigation, personal injury, and insurance coverage matters, until he moved to the firm's Melbourne office in 2016 where he has focused on personal injury and insurance coverage matters.
