K&L Gates Advises European Locomotive Leasing on Follow-up Financing with International Bank Consortium

Berlin and Frankfurt - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP advised European Locomotive Leasing (ELL), one of the leading leasing companies for locomotives in Europe, on the agreement of a follow-up financing. The financing consists of three credit lines and has been concluded with a consortium of international banks under the leadership of DVB Bank SE. This follow-up financing assists ELL with future investments and the continuation of their positive growth strategy.
ELL was founded in 2014 with the participation of KKR Infrastructure Funds. The leasing company has successfully increased its fleet to more than 50 Siemens Vectron locomotives in less than two years, with the locomotives having been leased to customers in Central and Eastern Europe.
The K&L Gates team that advised ELL on the matter was led by partners Dr. Frank Thomas and Dr. Christian Büche (transport and finance), assisted by partner Volker Gattringer (corporate) and associates Eiko Grieger and Anne Thümmel (finance) and Kerstin Hanke (corporate).
