K&L Gates Brexit Audit Tool Assists Clients in Assessing Exposure to UK Departure from EU
London - With Brexit continuing to be of critical importance to companies located and doing business in the United Kingdom, the European Union, and other parts of the world, global law firm K&L Gates LLP is offering a new Brexit Audit Tool to help clients better understand their risk exposure to Brexit by examining a roadmap of key risk areas that warrant assessment prior to March 29, 2019, the date the UK plans to leave the EU.
“The exercise of preparing for Brexit is now urgent, and it is important that businesses plan for this eventuality now,” said Tony Griffiths, K&L Gates’ managing partner for Europe and the Middle East. “Our Brexit Audit Tool helps clients and potential clients with business interests in the UK and Europe to plan for the effects of the various potential Brexit outcomes on their enterprises.”
The K&L Gates Brexit Audit Tool consists of a short, confidential, online evaluation form that collects basic information about a client’s business and the way it operates in Europe, including key risk areas such as regulated activities and sectors, commercial contracts, IP and data protection, employment and immigration, tax, cross-border trade, and public procurement. Lawyers from K&L Gates’ Brexit task force will then conduct a preliminary assessment of the risk environment for the client’s business, determining whether Brexit might have any impact as well as whether any risk areas are serious enough to warrant immediate reporting to the company’s board. The online questionnaire and the preliminary recommendations will be provided for clients at no cost and will not constitute legal advice.
K&L Gates has been helping clients prepare for the possibility of Brexit since before the voter’s referendum was announced. The firm’s Brexit client support task force continues to provide updates and analysis examining key developments as negotiations progress — including alerts, articles, and information on webinars and live events — on K&L Gates HUB, as well as through a series of Brexit Q&A conference calls with clients. The most recent of these calls included nearly 400 registrants from around the world.
