Ryan W. Steyer

Ryan Steyer is an associate at the firm’s Pittsburgh office and practices in the areas of commercial litigation and investigations, with a focus on the energy sector. He is experienced in many stages of litigation in state and federal courts across the country, and has assisted clients at both the trial court and appellate levels, as well as matters before governmental agencies.

In the energy space, Ryan has advised clients on a variety of business, royalty, title, and lease disputes, and his broader commercial experience includes a range of contract, tort, and product liability actions. He has also assisted clients develop strategies for managing multiple concurrent matters. 

Ryan’s written advocacy successes include a range of pre-trial and dispositive motions as well as appellate briefs. His work also includes complex discovery matters, conducting interviews, and assisting clients in sensitive internal investigations. 

In addition to commercial work, Ryan’s pro bono activities include organizing the firm’s annual Global Day of Service, and representing and assisting pro bono clients in civil rights litigation, name change proceedings, and immigration cases.

Prior to law school, Ryan served as a senior legislative assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives for then-Ranking Member of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee Marcy Kaptur (D-OH).

During law school, Ryan was a managing editor on the Ohio State Law Journal, a member of the Moot Court Board and National Moot Court Team, and a Legal Writing Fellow.

Ryan has also completed over 40 hours of mediation training and has mediated six cases.
