Samantha J. Thompson

Samantha Thompson is an associate in the firm's IP Litigation practice group and a United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registered patent lawyer.

Samantha’s patent litigation experience includes district court cases in support of patent infringement claims. She has experience in many phases of litigation, including preliminary injunction briefing, fact and expert discovery, dispositive motions practice, trial preparation, and settlement. 

Samantha also has experience drafting and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent and trademark applications in a wide range of industries and technological areas, including medical devices, computer and software systems, artificial intelligence, and mechanical systems.  

In addition to her intellectual property practice, Samantha’s practice also extends to complex commercial disputes involving issues such as breach of contract, real property rights, and other commercial torts.  

Prior to joining the firm as an associate Samantha served as a patent agent in the firm's Pittsburgh office. Through this role, she analyzed USPTO and foreign office actions, developed response strategies to overcome objections and rejections, and prepared formal responses, including necessary arguments or amendments to ensure continued prosecution. 

In addition, Samantha was previously a summer associate in the firm's Pittsburgh office.
