K&L Gates Expands Munich Office with Addition of Corporate Lawyer Trio
19 December 2016
Munich - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has enhanced its operations in Munich with the addition of corporate lawyers Dr. Franz Schaefer (partner), Dr. Martina Ortner (counsel), and Christoph Küster (associate). A team for many years, the lawyers join K&L Gates from King & Wood Mallesons, following the July addition of colleague Dr. Hilger von Livonius from the same firm as a founding partner in K&L Gates’ Munich office.
Schaefer and Ortner bring extensive experience in both M&A transactions within the industrial market and in private equity. An additional focus of their work is on corporate law for German and international corporations, with Schaefer admitted to practice before the German and New York bars.
Among the team’s most successful representations was the restructuring of German Koenig & Bauer AG, a world leader in the production of printing machines. In addition to Koenig & Bauer AG, whom the team has counseled for more than 10 years in corporate law matters, other significant clients include the Sino-German Ecopark-Gruppe, Nasdaq-listed Monotype Gruppe, and several financial investors.
Their addition follows a number of other new partner arrivals to K&L Gates’ German offices in 2016, including Livonius (investment management) in Munich and Dr. Thilo Winkeler (corporate and venture capital) and Dr. Manteo Heikki Eisenlohr (labor and employment) in Berlin. Last week, K&L Gates also announced the addition of partners Alexander Kollmorgen (corporate) and Klaus Schubert (litigation) as part of a six-lawyer team joining the firm’s Berlin office. K&L Gates’ German practice now includes approximately 80 lawyers providing comprehensive advice on domestic and international commercial law matters.
