Lillian Y. Luo

Lillian Luo is a patent technical specialist in the firm’s IP Procurement and Portfolio Management practice group. She is physics-trained with a strong foundation in electromagnetism, circuits, and computational modeling. Lillian is skilled in Python, data analysis, and simulation design applicable to software and algorithmic inventions. In addition, she has a background in patent law and familiarity with intellectual property matters.

As a graduate researcher and physics PhD candidate, she applied Python-based data analysis tools to constrain new-physics models, analyzed machine learning algorithms for anomaly detection, and conducted literature reviews and seminar discussions on research developments.

Lillian’s extensive experience includes scientific research and literature analysis, patent law training, technical writing, communication, and more. During her undergraduate research, she co-developed a detector simulation that informed engineering design decisions and presented her work in collaborative meetings, communicating technical findings to an international research team. She also created a LabVIEW application for spectrometer data collection and processing, which was used to perform laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy on biomaterials.
