Prior to joining the firm, Ryan was an associate in the Intellectual Property group at an international law firm, where he represented clients in patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret disputes, as well as IP diligence for large-scale technology transactions. Earlier in his career, he worked at an intellectual property monetization and advisory firm in Dallas, Texas, where he analyzed and marketed high-tech patent portfolios.
Ryan also served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Eric G. Bruggink at the US Court of Federal Claims in Washington, DC, where he focused on intellectual property disputes involving US government technology.
He began his IP career at the University of Alabama Office of Technology Transfer, where he evaluated early-stage inventions developed by faculty and graduate researchers for patentability, commercial viability, and licensing potential. In that role, he collaborated with inventors and university stakeholders to assess intellectual property strategies and provide recommendations to support technology commercialization.
Ryan earned his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law, where he served as President of the Intellectual Property Law Society. He holds a B.S. in Biology, magna cum laude, from the University of Alabama.
