Taryn Francis

Taryn Francis is a senior associate lawyer and registered Australian Trade Mark Attorney in the Intellectual Property group. She advises clients on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, including complex disputes, commercialisation, portfolio management, and strategic advisory work.

Her practice covers all aspects of intellectual property protection and enforcement, with experience advising on trade mark infringement, patent infringement, copyright infringement, Australian Consumer Law claims, passing off actions, and opposition proceedings.

Taryn acts for Australian, foreign and multinational clients in sectors including information technology, healthcare, food and beverage, financial services, building and construction, mining, fashion, and consumer products.

In addition to her disputes practice, she advises on intellectual property ownership, privacy, regulatory compliance and brand protection matters. Her experience includes drafting and negotiating intellectual property agreements including licences, assignments and confidentiality agreements. She works closely with clients to protect, commercialise, enforce and maximise the value of their intellectual property portfolios.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Taryn practiced at an Australian intellectual property law firm where she advised clients on a wide range of IP disputes and commercial matters.
