Rail Finance

The rail finance practice includes lawyers in the United States, the Middle East, Asia and Europe. Our highly regarded and interdisciplinary team has long-standing relationships with the relevant market participants and has been involved in many innovative rail finance projects, including the financing of the largest fleet of hydrogen passenger trains and other remarkable green rail projects.

We advise lenders, borrowers, lessors, lessees, manufacturers, investors, public transportation authorities, and private and state-owned operators on all kinds of rolling stock, in particular regional passenger trains, light rail, trams, metros, heavy rail, locomotives, freight, gas, and tank wagons.

Our team has a proven track record advising on all types of secured and unsecured loans, residual value guarantees, covered bonds, and project finance structures as well as a wide range of lease financings, including structured lease financings, leveraged leases, operating leases, and sale and leaseback transactions. In addition, our team is experienced in enforcement of security, workouts and restructurings, and insolvencies.

We are recommended for asset finance and leasing in the rail industry by legal directories such as Legal 500, Best Lawyers, Chambers Europe, and Chambers Global. Clients recognize the level of teamwork noting our “very uncomplicated co-operation” as well as our “high level of technical ability, flexibility, reliability, friendliness, and comprehensive analyses,” as quoted in Chambers Europe.
