Accounting Specialist

Our Hong Kong office is now seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Asia Finance Department. This role handles full spectrum of accounting functions for the Asia offices.
Essential Duties:
- In charge of the office’s month-end and year-end closing including general ledger accounts reconciliation, support documentation checking
- Support financial analysis and reporting to management including partner financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting
- Handle daily operations including payments, receipts, trust account and billings, and prepare journal entries and posting into accounting system
- Maintain fixed asset register including record asset additions and disposals and monthly depreciation calculations
- Prepare work papers for annual audit, corporate tax and VAT/ GST filings and assist with audit/ tax authorities’ queries
- Prepare responses to all surveys
- Support process improvement actions and implement best practices and automation to achieve operational efficiency and effective risk management
- Ensure the office’s financial operations are carried out in compliance with Firm’s policies, work procedures, and statutory requirements
- Assist with ad-hoc tasks and special projects as required
Your Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree holder in Accounting, Finance or Business
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience with at least 2 years in an international law firm or professional firm environment
- Experienced in financial reporting, internal controls, analysis and accounting knowledge for law firms including Hong Kong law society rules and regulations
- Experienced in computerized accounting system (knowledge in Elite 3E is an advantage)
- Good verbal and written communication in English and Chinese
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented, organized and able to work with voluminous data/transactions
- Manage multiple assignments and can prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work on daily operations independently; and ad-hoc assignments with supervision
- Responsive with ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all key stakeholders and contacts
- Ability to make logical assumptions, identify trends and analyze variance
- Commitment to continuous learning and demonstrate a desire to advance and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality around firm and client matters
