Amelia J. MacHugh

Amelia MacHugh is an associate in the firm's Labor, Employment, and Workplace Safety practice. She qualified as a solicitor in August 2023, having completed her training contract with the firm. Amelia has previous experience in the firm's Corporate, Real Estate, and Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources practice areas.

Amelia represents employers in a variety of contentious matters, including unfair dismissal and whistleblowing claims. In addition, she drafts employment-related agreements and policies, and counsels clients on a wide range of employment issues, including the appointment and termination of senior executives, managing sickness absence, disciplinary and performance issues, and data subject access requests. She also frequently provides support on employment law related issues in connection with corporate transactions and restructurings.

She is experienced in advising companies on all aspects of UK employment law including contracts and handbooks, performance and absence management processes, reductions in force and redundancies, disciplinary and grievance procedures, executive severance negotiations, the enforcement of post-termination restrictions, and defending employers against litigation from former employees. Amelia also regularly works with international businesses in relation to the management of cross-border employment projects.
