Andrew Glass is a partner in K&L Gates’s consumer financial services practice. Andrew advises fintechs, banks, and their investors on compliance with consumer financial services laws. He defends clients against state and federal agency civil enforcement actions, including by the US Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and against private lawsuits and class actions asserting claims under state and federal consumer protection laws. Andrew assists clients in conducting internal audits and investigations, preparing for supervisory examinations, and responding to regulatory investigations. Andrew’s multi-faceted approach to problem-solving delivers seamless solutions to clients' legal challenges and assists businesses in achieving integrated solutions to managing risk. Andrew and his project teams work closely with clients' business lines, and their legal, compliance, and information technology departments, to navigate complex regulatory areas. Andrew assists clients in areas including:
- Advises investors in performing due diligence on regulatory, civil enforcement, and litigation matters in the acquisition of fintech and financial service companies.
- Counsels fintechs and financial services companies on regulatory and compliance matters involving open banking/open finance and data privacy, artificial intelligence, fair lending laws, credit reporting, and the telephone consumer protection act (TCPA).
- Defends financial services clients in civil enforcement actions by the CFPB and other state and federal agencies and against private lawsuits and class actions.
- Assists clients in conducting internal audits and investigations, preparing for supervisory examinations, and responding to regulatory investigations.
- Represents payments and lending companies in establishing bank partnership arrangements for providing tech-enabled financial services.
Before joining K&L Gates in 1998, Andrew served as law clerk to Chief Judge Paul J. Barbadoro of the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire. Andrew is active in providing pro bono legal representation and is the pro bono coordinator for K&L Gates’ Boston office.
