Benjamin D. Heuberger, Ph.D.

Benjamin Heuberger is a patent agent in the firm’s Orange County office, and holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with an emphasis in Synthetic Organic Chemistry. He was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship jointly at Harvard Medical School and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute under Nobel Laureate Dr. Jack Szostak. His research examined nucleic acids and their role in the origin of life.

Benjamin’s practice includes intellectual property prosecution in the pharmaceutical, chemical, and life science arts. He works with clients to develop robust national and foreign patent portfolios including initial filings on novel chemical species, process chemistry, medical devices, and therapeutic implants, as well as secondary filings on combination therapies, prodrugs, salt forms, crystal forms, and formulations.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Benjamin was a patent agent in the Boston office of a U.S.-based law firm.
