Conversations About Race: The Honorable Bernice B. Donald

Date: 6 July 2020
Conversations About Race and Diversity

We believe that education is key to activate change; therefore, we are actively hosting a speaker series titled Conversations About Race to convene voices around diversity. In this video, we welcome Hon. Bernice B. Donald of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to discuss the historical and racial context of complying with law and the consequences when the rule of law breaks down. Judge Donald was the first female African American woman to serve as a judge in Tennessee and as a judge on a U.S. federal bankruptcy court.  Growing up in Alabama and spending most of her life in Memphis, she faced significant discrimination, challenges, and hardships and overcame them to ascend to her position. We are pleased to share this powerful discussion with you.
