K&L Gates Enhances Global Employer Solutions Capabilities with Addition of Paris Labor and Employment Partner

12 November 2015

Paris - Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Christine Artus as a partner in the labor, employment and workplace safety practice, further bolstering the firm’s Global Employer Solutions capabilities. Artus joins K&L Gates from Baker & McKenzie SCP.

Artus assists and advises clients on the general employment law aspects of their business decisions, particularly in regards to the individual and collective impacts of acquisitions, mergers, and reorganizations. With a general focus on employment contracts, non-competition undertakings, settlement agreements, and non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements, among others, she also assists major companies in the framework of their relationships with employees, including works council and trade unions — especially when closing down sites — and the implementation of HR policies focusing on harassment and discrimination.

“I am proud to join K&L Gates and very excited by this new challenge,” said Artus. “My 20 years of experience in major multinational projects as well as my background in the hotel, tourism, and pharmaceutical industries will enable me to be a business partner for our clients in both their day-to-day operations and key business decisions.”

Louis Degos, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Paris office, stated: “We are delighted to welcome Christine to our firm. Her addition will help develop our maturing labor and employment practice as well as our growing corporate and transactional practice. She will be an asset for the firm as part of a solid team that also includes counsel Julie Bouchard.”

Lawyers in K&L Gates’ labor and employment practice advise major domestic and international clients — including those in the technology, pharmaceuticals, retail, banking, manufacturing, broadcasting, construction, mining, energy, financial services, and health care industries —on a variety of regional and cross-border employment issues. The firm’s cross-disciplinary Global Employer Solutions team of more than 200 lawyers counsel corporations and entities across numerous countries and jurisdictions in meeting the challenges of their global business needs. Christine is the fourth new partner to join K&L Gates’ Global Employer Solutions since its January launch, following the arrivals of Donald Dowling (New York), Román Hernández (Portland), and Brian Graham (Austin).

K&L Gates comprises approximately 2,000 lawyers globally who practice in fully integrated offices located on five continents. The firm represents leading multinational corporations, growth and middle-market companies, capital markets participants and entrepreneurs in every major industry group as well as public sector entities, educational institutions, philanthropic organizations and individuals.
