Kan M. Lew

Kan M. Lew is an associate and a member of the Oil and Gas practice group. Kan focuses his legal practice on cross-border transactions in the energy sector and corporate transactions.

Upon joining the firm, Kan was seconded to a large municipal energy client, advising their in-house legal department on cross-border transactional matters and reporting directly to their general counsel. In this role, Kan drafted and reviewed a variety of commercial and legal agreements, including fuel and energy supply, gas-up-cool-down, joint development, engineering, and licensing agreements for the client’s global operations. Kan also advised on overseas startup investments as part of the client’s corporate venture capital function and provided routine in-house legal review of employment, non-disclosure, and confidentiality agreements.

At the start of his career, Kan was a member of an international law firm where he focused on representing private equity firms in mergers and acquisitions transactions in the technology and healthcare industries, as well as advising growth-stage technology startups in venture financings, restructurings, and matters of corporate governance. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Kan was a member of a boutique corporate law firm, where he focused on representing early-stage technology, medical, and consumer good startups in transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, venture financings, and international flips, in addition to serving as outside general counsel for contract review, negotiations, and employment matters.
