Pro Bono CLE and Training - Amazon and K&L Gates: Clearing Criminal Records of Survivors of Sex Trafficking & Domestic Violence
This CLE session on “Clearing Criminal Records of Survivors of Sex Trafficking & Domestic Violence” is presented by the firm, King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and The WAVE Foundation. The CLE and training is presented in the ongoing support of Mary’s Place Legal Clinics, with the collaboration of Amazon and K&L Gates.
This event is an informative and practical training about clearing convictions and records for survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence. The training will provide you with the information and tools you need to advise a client on these important issues and to support a client through the vacatur process.
Many survivors of sex trafficking are convicted of prostitution and other crimes while their trafficker remains free. Survivors of domestic violence are also often wrongfully charged with assault when they try to defend themselves from an attack by their abuser. Survivors get labeled as defendants, even though they were victims controlled by their abusers. Pro bono attorneys can help survivors clear criminal records so that survivors have access to housing, employment, and other resources that build hope for their future.
This training is for litigators, transactional attorneys, and support staff.
