FAQs for Allied Professionals

How do I submit an application for a vacancy?
Applications for our allied professionals roles can be made online, via our website, and should include a cover letter, CV and where relevant, an academic transcript.

What is the hiring process for allied professionals?
If successful, you will be invited to an interview with a member of our HR team and managers from the hiring department. Depending on the outcome of your interview, you may participate in a second-round interview or a "meet and greet" with relevant team members or partners of the firm. The hiring process for allied professionals includes reference checks and if applicable, police checks.

Do I receive feedback on my performance?
Our formal performance review process is conducted on an annual basis. In addition to the formal review process, allied professionals receive informal feedback from their supervisor during the year. The performance review is an opportunity to reflect on your achievements, plan for your training and development and discuss your career path.

What training can I receive as an allied professional at K&L Gates?
Your professional development commences on day one. You will receive an in-depth induction to the firm as well as training on relevant IT systems. The Australian Learning & Development team regularly coordinate, present and facilitate internal learning sessions. In addition, allied professionals have access to online training to continue your professional development.

Does K&L Gates have a flexible work policy?
Yes, K&L Gates supports flexible working and recognises that all roles can be performed effectively with a degree of flexibility. The Flexible Work Arrangement Policy is shared during the induction program.

What is the pay frequency at K&L Gates?
K&L Gates salary payments are processed on a fortnightly basis to your nominated bank account.

What happens to my application after submitting it online?
You will receive a confirming email that your application was completed and is under review by the allied professionals recruiting team. If it is determined that your experience appears to match our needs, a recruiter will contact you to schedule a screening interview. Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications we receive, we are not able to make personal contact with individuals who are not going to be invited for interviews.

It’s been a while since I applied and I have not heard anything.  When can I expect to hear from a recruiter?
If there is interest in your candidacy, you can expect to hear from us within 15-20 days of your application. Our selection process timeframes can vary by department. While candidates selected for interviews will be notified of their status, we regret that we cannot personally contact all applicants regarding their status.

How do I know if a position is still open or if it has been filled?
Open positions are listed on our careers page. If a position has been filled, it will be closed and removed from the site.

I have applied to several positions and haven’t heard anything.  Why am I not being considered or invited for an interview?
Only candidates with the skills and experiences that align most closely with the requirements for a position are invited to advance through the selection process.
