Jared Lund is a patent litigator whose practice focuses on complex patent disputes in federal district courts, with experience before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He represents both patent owners and defendants in patent infringement litigation involving high-value technologies. He brings an end-to-end perspective to patent litigation, drawing on experience prosecuting patent applications with future enforcement in mind and litigating infringement and validity challenges.
Jared has handled all stages of district court litigation, including case strategy, claim construction, fact and expert discovery, dispositive motions, and trial. Jared has substantial litigation experience in federal district courts. He has represented clients in disputes involving medical devices, cardiac monitoring systems, digital health technologies, telecommunications technologies, software platforms, and mechanical and industrial products. For patent owners, he has been involved from the development and prosecution of patent applications through their eventual assertion in district court, giving him a practical understanding of how prosecution strategy, claim scope, and validity considerations can affect enforcement. His litigation experience includes drafting complaints, briefing and arguing claim construction, taking and defending expert and fact depositions, preparing expert reports and pretrial disclosures, drafting dispositive motions, and preparing witnesses for testimony. He has litigated matters in leading patent venues, including the District of Delaware, the Central District of California, and the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas.
Jared has also worked on more than fifty post-grant proceedings. In inter partes reviews, his experience includes drafting all papers, coordinating expert declarations, taking and defending expert depositions, and arguing before the Board. In ex parte reexaminations, Jared has represented patent owners and third-party requesters, addressing patent validity and developing strategies to attack or preserve patent rights in parallel with district court litigation. His experience with post-grant proceedings complements his district court practice and allows him to approach patent disputes across multiple forums.
