Michael C. Sanko

Michael Sanko is an associate and member of the IP Procurement and Portfolio Management practice group. Prior to joining the firm, Michael was an associate at an American law firm where he focused on preparing utility and design patent applications directed to inventions in a variety of industries, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, medical devices, and software related inventions. He also gained experience developing response strategies to The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) office actions for utility and design patent applications. Michael also assisted with strategic management of a patent portfolio for a Fortune 500 corporation, and supported patent pre-litigation investigations and patent litigation cases in United States District Courts. Additionally, he reviewed and provided feedback on draft patent applications and office action responses prepared by patent agents and patent engineers.

Michael’s background includes additional associate and intellectual property attorney positions, through which he prepared utility and design patent applications directed to mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, medical devices, software, artificial intelligence, and consumer products related inventions. He also assisted with freedom-to-operate opinions regarding forthcoming new product launches in crowded patent spaces by large, multinational corporations. Michael advised on strategic management of patent portfolios for large, multinational corporations, including whitespace analysis of competitor portfolios and technology landscapes.
