Pam K. Jacobson

Pam Kohli Jacobson is a partner, patent lawyer and practice group coordinator for the firm's Intellectual Property practice. She is recognized for offering a single intellectual property solution across IP disciplines–from high stakes IP litigation to global IP enforcement, IP licensing, procurement, and portfolio management. Clients appreciate the treatment of their IP as a consolidated corporate asset and the resulting benefits. The benefits include, for example: minimizing the risk of licensing technology already exclusively licensed to a third party or filing time-barred patent applications because the technology was disclosed during trademark prosecution. She was an early adopter of combining alternative fee arrangements with advanced technologies and now leverages the resulting decade of data to provide innovative, cost-effective IP solutions.

Pam has been recognized by industry publications as a leading practitioner in intellectual property law including: Chambers (intellectual property); IAM Patent 1000 (patents); The Legal 500 United States (trademarks); World Trademark Review (trademarks); The Best Lawyers in America (patent, trademark and copyright); Super Lawyers; Managing IP (Patent); Corporate Livewire Global Awards (trade secret).

Chambers client referee comments include:

"Pam is incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I always feel like our business is in great hands with her leadership."

"Pam understands what is needed from a client and the commercial perspective. She has a keen knowledge of the law and provides top-notch commercial advice."

"Pam’s responsiveness is top-rate and I always feel well informed."

Prior to attending law school, Pam worked in research at the University of Chicago where she developed computer models and conducted regression analyses to identify genetic markers for familial systemic lupus erythematosus.

Pam also worked in the Math and Simulated Sciences Department at a multinational industrial conglomerate where she created math and predictive computer models to virtually test the toxicity of hydrochlorofluorocarbons.

Prior to joining K&L Gates, Pam was a partner at a boutique intellectual property firm in Seattle and then a Seattle general practice firm where she led its intellectual property group.
