Shamya L. Matthews

Shamya Matthews is an associate in the firm's Corporate Merger and Acquisitions practice group. Prior to joining as an associate, Shamya served as a summer associate. During this time, she worked with lawyers across Corporate and Tax practices on transactional and regulatory matters. Her experience includes drafting client-facing analyses of federal tax developments, assisting with transactional documents and purchase agreements, responding to legal research inquiries, and developing practical compliance resources for clients. She also supported pro bono efforts by drafting a motion and memorandum seeking vacatur of criminal charges under New York law on behalf of a survivor of human trafficking.

Additonally, Shamya served as a scholar in the Division of Investment Management at the US Securities and Exchange Commission. In this role, she conducted research on investment adviser regulatory matters and fiduciary obligations, analyzed regulatory issues involving tribal lands, and evaluated international valuation standards issued by the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to identify areas for modernization.
