Zachary V. Read

Zak Read is admitted to practice in Illinois. He is not currently admitted in Washington.

Zak Read is an associate in the firm’s Finance practice. He focuses on all aspects of bankruptcy and insolvency matters.  He has experience advising public and private companies, boards, financial sponsors, and ad-hoc groups in connection with both transactional and litigation matters in a variety of contexts, including complex out-of-court liability management transactions and federal bankruptcy proceedings.  Zak’s experience spans a broad range of industries and special situations, including technology, manufacturing, transportation, retail, and companies facing mass tort liabilities.

Prior to joining the firm, Zak was an associate concentrating on bankruptcy and restructuring matters in the Chicago office of another major US law firm. 

During law school, Zak was a student attorney in the University of Illinois Immigration Clinic where he assisted clients with a variety of immigration matters, including asylum applications, special immigrant juvenile status applications, and adjustment of status.

Prior to law school, Zak was a professional opera singer, Scottish bagpiper and multi-instrumentalist, and music teacher. From 2015 to present, he has been a member of the Six-Time World Champions, Simon Fraser University Pipe Band.
