Gemma Johnson is a patent agent in the firm's IP Procurement and Portfolio Management practice group. Gemma focuses on patent preparation and prosecution and leverages her extensive experience in molecular biology to help clients develop strategic global patent portfolios. She has experience preparing and prosecuting applications in the fields of viral vectors, biologics including antibodies and cell therapies, and CRISPR-Cas, among others.
Gemma earned a B.A. in Biology at Bryn Mawr College and a Ph.D. in Systems Biology at Harvard University. Her doctoral research focused on the molecular underpinnings of regeneration in a complex mammalian model, the mouse digit tip. Gemma utilized wet and dry lab techniques in her research and has experience in single-cell RNA-sequencing, mouse transgenics, tissue histology, and confocal imaging, among other technologies.
