Kristin Poti is an associate and member of the IP Procurement and Portfolio Management practice group. Kristin drafts and prosecutes Unites States and international patent applications for various life science technologies. She also performs freedom to operate, patentability, invalidity, and due diligence analyses on client and competitor portfolios and technologies. Her clients include both emerging startups and established biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. Kristin has extensive experience in molecular and cellular biology, parasitology, gene therapy, and immunology.
Kristin earned her JD from Suffolk University Law School and her PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Her doctoral research focused on characterizing the Plasmodium falciparum histidine-rich protein 2 (PfHRP2) to improve malaria diagnostic interpretation and sensitivity. She established a method to enhance antibody detection of a malaria diagnostic biomarker and generated and optimized three novel in vivo models to investigate the dynamics of a critical malaria protein biomarker.
Kristin has also authored several peer-reviewed articles published in Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Trends in Parasitology, Malaria Journal, Molecular Biology of the Cell, PLOS Neglected Tropical Diseases, and EMBO Journal.
