Cindy L. Ortega Ramos

Cindy Laura Ortega Ramos is an associate at the firm’s Chicago office. She is a member of the Health Care and FDA practice group. Cindy assists the practice group with transactional and strategic operational matters. These matters include regulatory compliance issues related to licensure, physician self-referral and anti-kickback laws along with Medicare and Medicaid fraud and abuse.

Prior to joining the firm, Cindy served as a summer associate at the firm. In this role she researched antitrust guidelines and case law regarding group purchasing organizations and clinical integration. Additionally, she conducted legal research and analyzed the use and application of extrapolation in decisions at the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals. While attending Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, Cindy clerked for the general counsel of Rush University Medical Center. During said clerkship, Cindy conducted federal, state, and municipal research regarding patient’s informed consent along with EMTALA and CMS’s regulations. Cindy also researched COVID-19 waivers applicability as they were first emerging.

Cindy serves as the Vice-Chair of the Chicago Bar Association Health Law Committee. Cindy is also a member of the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys and serves on its Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

While in law school, Cindy received the Women’s Bar Foundation Scholarship and the Hispanic Lawyers Scholarship Fund Award.
