Commercial Mortgage Loans and CMBS: Developments in the European Market

Date: 17 November 2016

K&L Gates and Sweet & Maxwell launch the third edition of: "Commercial Mortgage Loans and CMBS: Developments in the European Market" by  Andrew V. Petersen (editor), Sean J.W. Crosky,  Lucy Haworth, Jonathan Lawrence, Marco Mazzola, Stephen H. Moller,  Anthony R.G. Nolan, Andrea Pinto,  Diego Shin, and James Spencer.

Written by leading structured finance lawyers at K&L Gates, bankers, restructuring experts and industry specialists, this book is the only title of its kind to bring together the UK and European practice regarding the current commercial mortgage loans and CMBS markets.

It was produced in association with the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council - Europe (CREFC Europe), a trade association dedicated to promoting the ongoing strength, liquidity and viability of commercial real estate capital market finance worldwide. This book received its formal launch at the CREFC Europe conference, which K&L Gates sponsored, on 14-15 November 2016.

The book provides a detailed coverage of the existing CRE lending and CMBS markets post-financial crisis and Brexit, the legal and regulatory environment and the restructuring of existing deals and transactions.

The new edition builds on the content of the previous edition, including:

  • detailed discussion of the latest issues in this area, including the practical implications of the “skin-in-the-game” risk retention regulations;
  • examination of the role of CMBS in the commercial real estate market and the wider debt capital markets;
  • new chapters on the European lending markets comprising France, Germany, Italy and Spain; and
  • an examination of the legal and regulatory environment.

Providing a complete insider's view of current practice, this book is THE essential guide to all participants in the CRE and CMBS industry.
