K&L Gates Adds Nuclear Regulatory Lawyer in Washington, DC

Washington, DC – Global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Tison Campbell as a partner in its Energy, Infrastructure, and Resources practice. He joins the firm’s Washington, DC office from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Campbell brings nearly two decades of experience in nuclear law and is supported by a strong background in government regulation and environmental and administrative law. His practice spans a wide array of legal disciplines, including rulemaking, reactor licensing, nuclear fuel cycle regulation, federal ethics, and international law. He has led multiple divisions within the NRC’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC), providing legal guidance on complex regulatory matters and spearheading initiatives to improve operational efficiency and technological adoption.

In his most recent role, Campbell served as Assistant General Counsel for Legislation, Ethics, and Administrative Law, where he also acted as the agency’s Designated Agency Ethics Official. He chaired OGC’s Artificial Intelligence Committee, advising on the legal implications of AI-generated content and internal workflow enhancements. His leadership extended to information technology services, where he directed the IT Services Development and Operations Division in the Office of the Chief Information Officer, overseeing cloud transitions, software platform integration, and telecommunications management. His work has supported high-stakes licensing, litigation, and policy development across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

Campbell’s addition follows other strategic hires in the firm’s Washington, DC office and reflects K&L Gates’ ongoing investment in building a globally integrated team to meet the needs of clients in dynamic and highly regulated industries.
