K&L Gates Advises HBox on Strategic Growth Investment from Charlesbank Technology Opportunities Fund
Global law firm K&L Gates has advised HBox, Inc., a leading virtual care platform for specialty practices on its growth investment from Charlesbank’s Technology Opportunities Fund (“TOF”) II. Amid rising chronic disease prevalence, expanding reimbursement for outcome-focused virtual care, and innovative new ways for treating patients between visits, specialty practices are seeking scalable ways to extend treatment beyond the clinic. Charlesbank’s investment provides capital to help HBox advance key initiatives, including expanding its virtual care capabilities, furthering its mission to transform care delivery for patients with high-risk chronic conditions, and positioning itself as the virtual care partner to the specialty practice of the future.
The deal team was led by Singapore Corporate partners David Kuo and Meraj Noor, with support from senior associate Ying Chern Tan and associate Esther Neo. Specialist support was provided by US partners Rikki Sapolich-Krol (Employee Benefits, San Francisco), Jay Buchman (Tax, New York), and Maria Caceres-Boneau (Employment Law, New York).
Kuo stated: “HBox is transforming virtual care with an AI-first approach that meaningfully improves outcomes for patients living with chronic conditions while giving providers scalable, data-driven tools. We’re proud to have supported HBox and its shareholders on this milestone transaction and look forward to seeing the company accelerate its impact in partnership with Charlesbank.”
Banuprasad Dhanakoti, co-Founder and CEO of HBox, stated: “This was a complex, high-stakes growth investment, and K&L Gates delivered exceptional results. Their ability to bring together a coordinated, cross-border team with deep domain expertise made a real difference for us. They anticipated issues, provided clear and practical advice, and operated as a true extension of our management team. We couldn’t have asked for a better legal partner for this milestone transaction.”
