Paul R. Haswell

Paul Haswell is a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office. He is a member of the Technology Transactions and Sourcing practice, and has over 20 years of experience specializing in both contentious and non-contentious TMT matters. He advises clients on wide-ranging issues including data and cybersecurity, telecommunications, outsourcing, licensing, cloud and datacenters, and evolving technologies such as artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, and blockchain. He has worked on major technology disputes that have been resolved through litigation, arbitration, and mediation. 

Paul is ranked among the leading TMT lawyers in Hong Kong and China by both the Chambers Greater China Region guide and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific guide. He also regularly speaks and presents on technology matters across Asia, on topics ranging from cloud computing and data protection to social media and AI. 

Prior to joining the firm, Paul served as a partner for the Hong Kong office of an international firm. Paul was a member of the firm’s international technology, media, and telecoms practice. Through this role, he leveraged his legal and technological acumen to assist clients worldwide with large-scale IT and telecommunications projects, as well as commercial contracts.

Paul speaks regularly on technology-related issues across Asia, most recently giving a series of presentations on the impact of artificial intelligence to the British Chamber of Commerce and at the Singtel Cybersecurity Mesh Forum, and on the challenges caused by new data protection regimes in the Asia region to the American Chamber of Commerce and the Infosecurity Summit. 

In his spare time Paul DJs and presents a radio show in Hong Kong, and recently co-presented a TEDx talk on pioneering female musicians.
