H. Thomas Anderton

Tom Anderton Jr. is a partner and he is a member of the Technology, Sourcing, and Privacy practice. Prior to joining the firm, Tom was a general counsel and a chief patent counsel. As a former life sciences executive, he spent a lot of his time working with other corporate executives to maximize company value and asset value. He intimately understands the business and IP needs of life science companies. He frequently works with start-ups and large organizations and understands the different requirements of each.

He has extensive experience in technology transactions and intellectual property counseling in biopharmaceutical and medical device fields, including cross-border transactions with China and Europe. His transactional experience extends to licensing, research and development, manufacturing, distribution, service, financing, and partnering agreements. He is a patent attorney by training and he still drafts and prosecutes patent applications, counsels on freedom to operate matters, infringement avoidance, strategic patenting, and the development, structuring, and monetization of U.S. and international patent portfolios. His patent portfolios have often been ranked as the best in the industry. He has extensive M&A and integration experience.
