Summer School: Sextortion 101
Part Two in a Three Part Webinar Series with Thought Leaders in the Communications, Media, & Tech Law Space
Listen to Recording (CLE/CPD Credit Available)
Before 2013 only 3 states had laws that criminalized the unauthorized disclosure of sexually explicit images of adults. Today, 46 states + DC have laws that specifically prohibit this behavior, federal legislation has been introduced, and the material is prohibited by mainstream social media platforms and internet intermediaries. And yet, individuals who fall victim to online “sextortion” schemes or image-based abuse generally don’t know what to do, and lawyers often don’t know how to help them. This one-hour webinar dissects the current legal and social landscape of “revenge porn” and provide you with practical tips on how best to navigate both the criminal and civil arenas.
