K&L Gates Advises Centuria Capital Group on AU$450 Million Capital Raising and Joint Venture Acquisition
Global law firm K&L Gates has advised ASX-listed real estate fund manager, Centuria Capital Group, on its AU$450 million capital raising and acquisition of a 50% interest in the World Square office assets from a fund managed by Brookfield.
The Centuria Sydney CBD Prime Office Fund is the largest single-asset closed-ended unlisted fund that Centuria has launched, and the capital raising has been well supported by Centuria's domestic investor base and Japan-based institutional investors.
K&L Gates advised on all aspects of the transaction including the establishment of the Centuria Sydney CBD Prime Office Fund, cross-border capital raising and the 50% interest in the 680 George Street and 50 Goulburn Street, Sydney CBD office assets.
Centuria Capital Group's Chief Investment Officer Andrew Essey said: "Naomi and the team are consummate professionals. There was seamless collaboration between the corporate, funds and property teams here in Australia and abroad. It was highly valuable for us to be able to utilise one single law firm with the breadth and expertise required for this matter."
The K&L Gates team was led by Corporate and Investment Funds partner Naomi Philp, with support from M&A partner Nick Ramage, Investment Funds partner Lisa Lautier, Corporate partners Adam Levine (FIRB) and Ayman Guirguis (ACCC), special counsels Jacob Blakely and Scott Allen, senior associates Whitney Jiang and Gloria Tam, and lawyers Aibelle Espino and Tom Farinelli. Support on the cross-border capital raising was provided by of counsel Yuki Sako (Tokyo) and partners Edward Bennett (Singapore) and Scott Peterman (Hong Kong).
Brookfield was advised by Minter Ellison.
