Global law firm K&L Gates has advised Italy-based Linz Electric S.p.A. with its acquisition of a majority stake in German mechanical engineering company, KW Generator GmbH (KWG), following KWG’s reorganization.

Linz Electric specializes in the design and production of alternators and electric rotating machines. KWG is a specialist in mobile power generation, developing and producing high-performance brushless synchronous generators.

The new venture is positioned to respond to current trends in the power generation sector, combining KWG’s high-tech expertise in handling demanding applications with Linz Electric’s international presence and industrial agility, and aims to develop and distribute a comprehensive range of alternators worldwide.

The Corporate deal team was led by Milan partner Arturo Meglio and Berlin partner Dr. Martina Ortner, with the support of senior associate Richard Resch.

Meglio stated: “We congratulate Linz Electric and KWG on this milestone transaction. We wish the new venture success with leveraging its joint capabilities to meet the demands of complex applications and the power generation market. We remain well positioned to advise companies operating in this space, as they navigate and pursue the wide-ranging opportunities and challenges arising in this sector across Europe.”
